In Belarus, a Catholic priest and two Evangelical presbyters have been detained

In Belarus, Catholic priest Anatoliy Parakhnevich, rector of the parish in Olkovichi, Vileyka District, has been detained.
This was reported by the resource Christians Against War, citing human rights organizations.
Earlier, state propaganda media mentioned the priest in a negative context following his participation in a reception for Poland’s Constitution Day, which took place at the Embassy of Ukraine in Minsk, attempting to present this as something suspicious.
It is reported that in mid-March six more people were detained, two of them presbyters of Evangelical churches. It is known that two were released after questioning, while four others remain behind bars.
Five Ukrainian refugees who had been assisted at the church were also detained.
As LF previously reported, two Polish Catholic priests who had served for many years in Brest Oblast were forced to leave Belarus.

As LF also reported, in Belarus, by decision of the KGB, the property of Catholic priest Genrikh Okolotovich is being seized and sold. The clergyman was convicted of “state treason” and released two years later following a petition by the Vatican.
Earlier we wrote that in Belarus, after re-registration in accordance with new legislation, the number of religious communities has decreased. In Mogilev Oblast, after re-registration, half of the Catholic parishes ceased their activities. In Vitebsk Oblast, 85 Roman Catholic communities remain instead of 94 previously, in Brest Oblast, 60 instead of 66.
