According to the latest study by Informat.ro, the INSCOP Research Barometer, the Church ranks first in terms of public trust among Romanian citizens.
According to the survey data, 63.9 percent of respondents say they have a fairly high level of trust in the Church, compared with 57.7 percent recorded in July last year.
Thus, the Church remains an institution with a high level of trust in Romania, surpassing the army and confirming a trend toward the consolidation of favourable public perception.
The director of the INSCOP research centre, Remus Stefureac, explains this result by noting that Romanians increasingly identify with institutions perceived as non political.
“The Church and the army remain symbolic reference points of stability and identity, a sign that the population is seeking anchors of continuity outside the political game itself. This is a classic pattern in societies with structural distrust of the political class,” the INSCOP director said.
The survey was conducted from 12 to 15 January 2026 using telephone interviews on a sample of 1,100 people, representing the adult population of Romania.
