A church is being built in Belarus with funds from a Russian propagandist who finances the war

In the Belarusian city of Smarhon, a church is being built with funds from a Russian propagandist who supports Russian troops fighting in Ukraine.
This was reported by the outlet Zerkalo.

The rector of the parish, Valentyn Hunkevich, states that the Church of John of Kronstadt is being built “exclusively on donations from believers, but assistance was also provided by the Russian charitable foundation of Sergey Mikheyev, which allocated funds for the foundation.”

It should be noted that Russian propagandist Sergey Mikheyev, following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, proposed the creation of a foundation to support servicemen participating in combat operations. His foundation was established in May 2022.
Since then, the funds have been used to support the army engaged in the war. Reports on this are published regularly.

Before his active appearances on Russian state television, Mikheyev worked as a political strategist and took part in election campaigns in Latvia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, and Kyrgyzstan. He sent reports on his work to his handler in the FSB.

As previously reported by LF, the construction of an Orthodox “Russian-Serbian” church in the capital of Republika Srpska, Banja Luka in Bosnia, has been ongoing for eight years. The Bosnian Serb authorities promote the project as “historic for bilateral relations.” Among the initiators of the project is the Russian Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society, headed by former FSB chief Sergey Stepashin.

Earlier, we reported that in Astana, in the area of the National Space Centre, construction continues on a large-scale Orthodox church complex that will become the largest Orthodox church in Central Asia. The project has sparked debate among members of the maslikhat, the capital’s representative body, who have expressed doubts about the feasibility of the construction and raised questions about its sources of funding.
