In Belarus, authorities are introducing an access control regime at churches during Easter

In Belarus, on Palm Sunday (April 5) and Easter (April 12), churches will be placed under special police control.

This was reported by the outlet Zerkalo, citing the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the report, access control will be introduced at venues hosting religious events.
“At sites with large numbers of people, arrangements are предусмотрены for access control and inspection measures using technical means,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

In addition, work at transport facilities will be intensified. The state of public order near places of worship and in other public areas will also be monitored using video surveillance systems.

The ministry emphasized that all measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and comfort of citizens. “The police are always ready to assist and ensure security,” the press release states.

As previously reported by LF, the Latvian State Security Service is urging citizens to refrain from traveling to Russia and Belarus during the Easter holidays due to high risks of intelligence activities, recruitment, and provocations.

The Latvian State Security Service notes that anyone may become a target for the intelligence services of Russia and Belarus, regardless of their profession or access to sensitive information. At the same time, the ability of Latvian institutions to assist their citizens who find themselves in difficult situations on the territory of these countries is limited.
