The Christian organization The Pocket Testament League reported a sharp increase in interest in the Bible online. Over nine months, its materials appeared in more than 750 million search engine results worldwide.

From October 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, nearly 9 million people downloaded the Gospel of John through the Read Carry Share mobile application. That averages about 1 million downloads per month, reports the inVictory portal.

The application was launched at the end of 2020. Since then, it has been downloaded more than 30 million times. Nearly one-third of all downloads occurred during the past nine months alone.

The highest level of user activity was recorded in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

India was the leader, with the Gospel of John downloaded more than 3.68 million times. Bangladesh ranked second, with nearly 1.48 million downloads.

There was also strong interest in the digital Bible in countries where Christians may have difficulty obtaining traditional printed materials. These include Sudan, Nepal, Algeria, Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Cuba, and Iraq.

The Pocket Testament League has existed since 1893. Initially, the organization distributed small printed editions containing biblical texts that Christians could carry with them and use for personal witnessing about their faith.

Today, printed materials remain an important part of its work, but the organization is increasingly using modern technology. Mobile applications make it possible to distribute the Bible among people who may not have access to Christian books and churches.
