Pope Leo XIV has voted in the US midterm elections. He mailed his ballot to Chicago.
This was reported by Vatican News.
According to the report, the Holy See Press Office confirmed that Pope Leo XIV had participated in the US midterm elections.
The Pope exercises his right to vote as a US citizen whenever he has the opportunity. This time, he mailed his ballot to Chicago, where he is registered to vote.
Leo XIV confirmed that he had also exercised his voting rights whenever possible during his time in Peru.
The Pope expressed his conviction that participation in democratic processes is both a right and a duty of citizens.
As LF previously reported, President Donald Trump sharply criticized Leo XIV, accusing him of being “weak on crime” and pursuing a “terrible foreign policy.” In response, the Pope addressed the US president’s social media post, stating that he was “not afraid of the Trump administration and not afraid to speak out.”
The pontiff had previously criticized the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
