Russia Requires Religiously Affiliated Organizations Receiving Foreign Funding to Publish Reports

Russia’s Ministry of Justice has required all religious organizations receiving foreign funding to publish reports.

This was reported by the news outlet 7×7.News.

According to media reports, the ministry has created a dedicated online platform for the publication of documents. Organization leaders must complete mandatory authorization through the ministry’s official website. The system automatically verifies all submitted information before publication.

The documents will remain publicly accessible for at least five years. Any alteration of the deadlines or procedures for submitting information is strictly prohibited.

Failure to comply with the reporting requirements will result in penalties. Organization leaders will be subject to administrative liability as established by law. The Ministry of Justice will strictly monitor compliance with these new regulations.

As LF previously reported, the European Union is preparing a resolution on repression in the Russian Federation. The draft European Parliament resolution on transnational repression has passed committee voting and is scheduled to be submitted to the plenary session in June. The document describes how authoritarian states, specifically referring to the Russian Federation according to LF, and entities associated with them pursue, intimidate, monitor, and control dissidents, opposition figures, journalists, human rights defenders, activists, and diaspora communities within the European Union and beyond their national borders.

Earlier, we reported that the chairman of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, Republican Congressman Joe Wilson, together with several other lawmakers, introduced the “Countering Russia’s War Against Faith Act.”
