Information that Russian Orthodox Church priests in Europe receive from parishioners may be of interest to Russian intelligence services.

This was stated in an interview with LF by Father Petro Bokanov, a priest of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine who lives in Germany.

According to the priest, he is particularly concerned about attempts by representatives of Moscow-linked church structures to establish contact with wounded Ukrainian servicemen.

“I am concerned about how much personal information could become accessible to people linked to Russian structures. Almost every Ukrainian family has someone at the front, in captivity or in the occupied territories.

People come to a priest with very personal concerns. They talk about their loved ones and what is happening to them. I fear that such information could be of interest to Russian intelligence services. I am particularly concerned about attempts by representatives of Moscow-linked church structures to establish contact with our wounded servicemen,” Petro Bokanov said.
