In eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, militants from the ADF group killed at least 17 Christians. The attack took place on May 19 in Mambasa Territory of Ituri Province.
This was reported by persecution.org.
The assault began in the village of Alima. The armed men then moved into nearby settlements, including Manyama, where they set several houses on fire. Local residents say that many people are still missing, so the death toll may rise.
The ADF group has operated in eastern Congo for a long time and is considered one of the region’s most dangerous armed organizations. Several new attacks on civilians have taken place there in recent weeks.
The situation is further complicated by the ongoing Ebola outbreak in Ituri Province. Authorities are urging people to avoid large gatherings, keep their distance, and wash their hands frequently. However, for residents fleeing armed attacks and hiding in forests, such measures are nearly impossible to follow.
