Expansion in Africa. The Russian Orthodox Church Secures Official Status in Congo

The Russian Orthodox Church has legally formalized its presence in another country on the African continent, the Republic of the Congo.

This was reported by the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.

According to the statement, the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa has received a certificate of state registration in the Republic of the Congo.

Earlier this year, certificates of state registration for the Russian Orthodox Church were obtained in the Republic of Cameroon and the Republic of Madagascar.

As previously reported by LF, the Russian Orthodox Church named the reason and purpose for expanding its influence in African countries. Church representatives believe that “Africans are experiencing a spiritual thirst and see in the Russian Orthodox Church a large and strong church that is engaging.” This was stated by the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, Metropolitan of Cairo and North Africa Konstantin. According to him, the exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church is now active in 36 countries across the continent, bringing together more than 270 clergy and around 370 parishes and communities. “But we will also appear in those countries where we are not yet present,” the metropolitan promised.

It was previously reported that the Russian Orthodox Church had officially established its presence in Cameroon through the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.

Recently, the Russian Orthodox Church obtained official registration in the Republic of Madagascar.

As reported by LF, the Kremlin uses the Russian Orthodox Church as an instrument of influence in Africa and, with its help, recruits local populations to participate in the war against Ukraine.

Earlier reports stated that the African Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church lures Kenyans into the war in Ukraine. Young citizens of Kenya are offered to travel to Russia for work or study, with the church undertaking to sponsor the trip.

It is known that the Russian Orthodox Church considers Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda as key countries for developing its mission in Africa. This was reported by Metropolitan of Cairo and North Africa Konstantin (Ostrovsky).
