Another Catholic priest has been forced by the authorities to leave his congregation in Belarus. He is a Polish citizen, Father Janusz Pulit, who for 32 years served as pastor of parishes in Ruzhany and Lyskovo.

This was reported by Anthony Demyanko, Bishop of Pinsk of the Roman Catholic Church, writes Katolik.life.

The bishop stressed that, due to the small number of local priests and the declining number of Polish priests in the Diocese of Pinsk, it is very difficult to provide all parish communities from Brest to Gomel with regular pastoral care.

“A longtime parish priest is leaving against his will. This is a pain for all of us. But we, the bishops and priests, will help and support you, remaining together in the spirit of Christian faith, hope and love,” the bishop said.

Since the beginning of 2026, he is the third Polish priest of the Diocese of Pinsk to be denied an extension of his permit to conduct religious activities in Belarus.

As LF reported, three Catholic priests, all Polish citizens who had served in Belarus for many years, have been forced to leave the country. The authorities refused to extend their permits for continued service. All of them served in the Diocese of Vitebsk.

As LF reported, two Polish Catholic priests who had served for many years in the Brest Region were forced to leave Belarus.

As LF reported, of the 16 Greek Catholic (Uniate) parishes previously registered in Belarus, four failed to complete mandatory re-registration. These were communities in Brest, Baranavichy, Ivatsevichy, all in the Brest Region, and Orsha.

We previously reported that in the Brest Region, the authorities liquidated all parishes of the Greek Catholic Church. The court ruling cited an alleged “threat to national interests.”

As LF reported, Catholic priest Anatoly Parakhnevich, parish priest in Olkovichi, Vileika District, was detained. Previously, state propaganda media had mentioned the priest in a negative context after his participation in a reception marking Poland’s Constitution Day, held at the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk, attempting to portray it as something suspicious.

It was soon reported that Anatoly Parakhnevich had suffered a heart attack. The 65-year-old cleric remains in a pre-trial detention facility in serious condition. According to Belarusian believers, Parakhnevich is accused of “treason against the state.” There is no information about what exactly he is accused of. It is believed that the priest is being held in a KGB detention facility.

As LF reported, in Belarus, the property of Catholic priest Henryk Okolotovich is being seized and sold by order of the KGB. The clergyman was convicted of “treason against the state” and released two years later following a request from the Vatican.

Earlier in Belarus, a Catholic priest and two evangelical presbyters were detained.
